Wanted to try a high end sushi spot and landed at Masuya. The ambiance and atmosphere was nice and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. It felt like we were back in Japan. The fish was fresh and the rolls were delicious. There was quite a bit of rice used in the rolls which was unusual to us. We did not do the omakase but I would assume, based on our experience, that it was also exceptional. There was a great selection of beer wine and liquor though they didn't have any shochu should which is our go to at sushi restaurants. We ordered the spicy tuna roll, the eel roll, and the wagyu with miso.

My partner and I went to Masuya for his pre-emptive birthday dinner. We wanted to try a high end sushi/sashimi place and what we received was not only THE best sashimi we have ever eaten, but the most welcoming, kind, helpful and friendly staff and most impeccable quality of service we have certainly ever experienced. Sean, Vino and everyone in between were all more than happy to assist us with anything we needed throughout the whole night, but Sean went especially above and beyond to take care of us - giving us a detailed and very accurate description of a Sake my partner was interested in trying, checking in on us frequently, asking about our travel to Sydney and chatting to us both like we were old friends. Truly some of the kindest and most special people work here and to top it off, delicious, fresh, high quality seafood - what an incredible experience. We live 2.5 hours away but you can bet that we WILL be back again - Masuya is a MUST when travelling near the Darling Harbour area and surrounds.

I took my wife here on a date and the atmosphere was perfect here. The waitress for our table provided excellent service. The only disappointment was the food. The tempura batter was not as light as the one I had many years ago. The deep-fried soft-shell crab in the sushi roll was soggy, looked like it was not made to order, but was cooked much earlier. The wagyu steak katsu was tasty but the batter did not stick to the steak and has fallen apart already on arrival.

Food was great and so fresh! Staff was very attentive and took care of us! It was for a friends 30th and they took care of all of us and recommended drinks. We ordered a lot more than the photo but it was too good I had to eat it before taking the photo - Definitely will be back!
